Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to residents within a skilled nursing setting. In addition to direct care, this role involves supervising support staff, participating in resident and family teaching, and advocating for residents.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Assess residents on admission and when conditions change, documenting care plans and medical records.
- Educate residents and families on pain management and ensure compliance with pain logs.
- Set goals and prescribe appropriate nursing action based on resident assessments and needs.
- Ensure patient safety and minimize medical errors in delivering resident care.
- Notify and follow through with physicians on changes in a resident's condition.
- Interact respectfully with residents, families, and staff, addressing their physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
- Administer medications and identify clinical changes related to medical diagnoses.
- Take personal responsibility for professional growth and supervise other healthcare team members.
- Act as a resident advocate, remain calm in emergencies, and comply with all regulations and policies.
Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher degree
- One year of experience in long term care
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Required: Registered Nurse licensure in NYS
Preferred: Basic Life Support Certification
