Care. No Matter What. Position Summary: Assist in all aspects of the provision of abortion care for patients including acting as Charge Nurse in charge of patient flow. Provide counseling for patients having a surgical abortion in the procedure room or post-procedure room on surgical abortion day, overseeing all aspects of the care of the patients during the procedure and post-procedure. Supervise medical assistants who work in the post-procedure room. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, friends, and families. Assure quality of care by adhering to PPHP standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following standards of care set by the state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations. Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Maintain a cooperative relationship among the health care team by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods. Qualifications: Experience, Education and Licensure: Registered Nurse with a current NYS license in good standing. Must have current CPR/BLS certification. One year experience in family planning, abortion services, recovery room preferred. Bilingual English / Spanish skills preferred. Ability to use a computer for charting, documenting, communication, researching. Willing to work flexible hours. Salary: $ 55.00 an hour.
