The Engineering Department is seeking a Roadway Engineer to be based out of White Plains, NY or Stamford, CT offices. This individual will serve a key function in helping our local, municipal clients develop and design Complete Streets projects, sidewalks and bike lanes, linear roadway improvements, drainage improvements and other capital improvements projects to make our roadways safer and more efficient for all road users. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of the region.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the preparation and modification of various engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, HydroCAD, etc.) and equipment;
  • Use record documents, reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess site characteristics such as hydrology, topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects.
  • Roadway and utility infrastructure design including roadway geometry, grading, drainage, utility design, stormwater management, and soil erosion and sediment control.
  • Coordinate with planners, engineers, environmental scientists, subconsultants, and other professionals.
  • Participate in professional organizations.
Requirements
  • 2-5 years' experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • Strongly prefer FE/EIT Certification
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to follow directions and work in a collaborative team environment
