Job Description: MLee Healthcare is seeking a skilled Med Tech to join a growing team laboratory team in Delaware. The Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist supports the Laboratory Section Supervisor and/or Laboratory Manager in overseeing the operational and technical aspects of their assigned section(s). This role ensures the smooth daily functioning of laboratory operations and acts as a key problem-solver. The Lead is responsible for adapting to changes in workload, making real-time adjustments to work assignments when the supervisor is absent. They ensure timely and accurate specimen handling, delivery, testing, results reporting, and customer service, all in line with laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. The Lead operates independently but collaborates with the Laboratory Section Supervisor, Laboratory Manager, and/or Outpatient Service Center Manager (if applicable). In the absence of a supervisor, the Lead may assume the role of acting supervisor, fulfilling all related duties.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university, including 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) in biological sciences (with at least one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) in chemistry (with at least one semester in organic or biochemistry), and one semester (one quarter) of mathematics. (Alternatively, an Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology for those in the position prior to 2005.)
  • Three years of experience as a medical laboratory scientist or clinical laboratory scientist.
  • Certification as MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), MT (AMT), CLS (NCA), or equivalent, or MLT(ASCP) for those in the position prior to 2005.
