Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located at 2100 Charlie Hall Boulevard, Charleston, SC 29414.

This position is assigned to the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center (CDMHC) Mobile Crisis team, which provides emergency services to people in the community who are experiencing suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, psychosis, or worsening mental health symptoms. Services are provided to both adults and children. Our clinicians work in teams to assess these acute mental health concerns and arrange for appropriate safety planning and treatment, including facilitating hospital admissions when necessary. The team works very closely with law enforcement when providing care during crisis interventions, prioritizing the safety of all involved. This is an exciting, fast-paced position that regularly interacts with the Probate Court, Emergency Departments, law enforcement, EMS, and local hospitals.

After-hours work offers additional compensation above the base salary.

The Mobile Crisis team also acts as the primary intake team for CDMHC, performing advanced, comprehensive mental health assessments used for admission to outpatient care. Clinicians are taught to utilize a full array of assessment and diagnostic skills. Our organization also provides outpatient psychiatric and nursing services, so clinicians will collaborate with medical team members to ensure all mental health needs are met. We seek compassionate individuals who are driven to provide outstanding care to those we serve.

CDMHC and the South Carolina Department of Mental Health have an unsurpassed commitment to ongoing learning and professional development. Clinical staff receive thorough training at orientation as well as opportunities for ongoing training and support, including CEUs whenever possible. Regular individual and team supervision is also provided.

In addition to our exceptional benefits package detailed below, employees in good standing can access opportunities to receive clinical supervision toward all levels of licensure in Counseling and Social Work at no charge.

Our organization is committed to service to our community, and staff members have many opportunities to participate in community events and presentations to reduce stigma and increase awareness of mental health. For those wanting to make a difference in individual's lives and the surrounding communities of the Lowcountry, there is no better place to practice in the mental health field.
