Receives and examines plans for plumbing work.Determines the cause of violations and takes corrective actions. Provides testimony in court cases. Prepares reports.Maintains records and files. Requirements: Plumbing Inspector: Applicants must possess a valid license as a Plumbing Inspector of the appropriate level, High-Rise and Hazardous (HHS) or Industrial and Commercial (ICS), issued by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. Plumbing Code Inspector - Senior - Principal 1 of 2 For Senior Plumbing Inspector: Five (5) years as a Plumbing Inspector. Upon verification of requirements, promotion will become effective the following July 1. For Principal Plumbing Inspector: Three (3) years as a Senior Plumbing Inspector. . Upon verification of requirements, promotion will become effective the following July 1. Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of methods used to conduct plumbing inspection. Knowledge of plumbing installation methods. Knowledge of plumbing fixtures and fixture requirements. Ability to interpret relevant public health laws and apply them to specific cases. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with business proprietors, contractors, housekeepers, and others interested in the maintenance of public health standards. Ability to prepare reports of inspections containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Ability to provide testimony in court. Ability to maintain records and files. Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
