RAA is currently recruiting Paramedics. In this capacity, you will provide excellent patient care to the City of Richmond using EMS knowledge, clinical skills, professionalism, and customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Maintain high standards for health, safety, welfare, and ethical behavior
  • Evaluate the condition of patients to determine appropriate care in a pre-hospital and medical transport setting
  • Administer proper treatment by utilizing appropriate techniques and medical equipment
  • Accurately document patient information in a timely manner while maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering all care with respect for patient rights
  • Proficiently operate and drive emergency vehicles in accordance with the company's policies and all federal, state, and local laws
  • Safely transport patients from the point of pick-up to hospitals and other healthcare facilities
  • Maintain a clean, well-stocked environment for patients
  • Respond appropriately to and comply with all Communications Center directives
  • Immediately report any malfunction, damaged equipment, or notable incident
  • Adhere to all policies of agencies, institutional and regulatory bodies
  • Follow directives set forth in the company's SOG manual and Employee Handbook
  • Successfully perform other duties as assigned by management
REQUIREMENTS :
  • High School graduate or GED certification
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Paramedic Certification
  • Valid VA Driver's License
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with company policy
  • Possess and maintain current certifications in the following:
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
  • Candidates selected for employment are subject to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drugs. Candidates who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with the Richmond Ambulance Authority
  • Candidates selected for employment are subject to a fingerprint background screening. Candidates who refuse to be fingerprinted will be denied employment with the Richmond Ambulance Authority
  • Candidates selected for employment are subject to Physical Abilities Test (PAT). Candidates who refuse to complete the test may be denied employment with the Richmond Ambulance Authority
  • Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program, or having an approved medical or religious exemption on file with Human Resources, is required for all Richmond Ambulance Personnel
  • New employees complete a probationary period
SIGN ON BONUS :
  • After 90 days of employment, the new employee will receive 42 hours of paid time off to use at any point during their employment with the Richmond Ambulance Authority.
