Corporate Director of Safety Jurupa Valley, California In performing the above, responsibilities will include: Partnering with PRSH Executive, Senior Leadership and Regional teams for direct communication and strategies on SHE risks, compliance programs and implementations. Meet with operational leadership frequently to review performance and establish key tactics and create programs to address gaps and reduce or eliminate risks and exposures that lead to injuries and illnesses, ensure corporate and regulatory compliance. Develop an annual budget and business plan – assume P&L responsibility. Define leading and lagging HSE indicators, focusing on tracking highest risks, target severity metrics (SIF, STCKY) and root causes. Track overall strategic progress using the Maturity Path as a guide and assessment tool. Strengthen HSE compliance and prevention by integrating HSE requirements into operational or maintenance programs and procedures. Team with facilities and operations to implement environmental compliance programs across all operating plants, shops, and branches. Partner with HR to manage restricted work and claims management processes. Strengthen HSE bench strength by leveraging regional, business, and corporate safety professionals in a company-wide safety leadership team, to define compliance and risk reduction programs, needed training, and field audits, tools, and coaching. Participate in investigation of HSE claims and injuries, reviews, and preparation of material evidence for company use in inspection citations, hearings, lawsuits, and similar investigations. Travel as required to construction sites, facilities, and locations primarily throughout California. Some travel may be required throughout the US. Experience and Education: Minimum fifteen (15) years experience in developing and implementing safety, occupational health and environmental programs at senior business and corporate levels. Minimum five years experience in construction, construction materials or related field work. BS Degree, preferably in safety, engineering, construction management, occupational health, or related field. Advanced degree in safety or health-related field, a plus. At least one advanced certification in Safety is required: BCSP (ASP, CSP, SMS, STS, CIH or CHST); CALOSHA 10, 30, 500, 510, Certified Safety and Health Official; MSHA certifications or other advanced certifications. OSHA authorizations in Confined Space are a plus. Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA, CALOSHA, MSHA and other state and federal agency safety requirements. Familiar with Federal and CA State Environmental Regulations for Aboveground Storage Tanks. CUPA Inspections and Regulatory Agency, Storm Water Best Management Practices, Hazardous Material Handling and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) a plus. First aid and CPR Certified. Six sigma tools a plus. Proficient in MS Office suite. Application of Six Sigma or comparable total quality approach to analyze data, seek causes, identify priorities, define and implement solutions. Clear and effective presentation and training skills. Display organized recordkeeping and documentation skills. Speaking and reading multiple languages a plus, especially Spanish. Valid CA Driver’s License with safe driving record.
