Job Title: Technology Support Technician
Position Overview: As a Technology Support Technician, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive audio-visual (A/V) support for university faculty, staff, students, and special events. This role includes managing event schedules, setting up and operating equipment, troubleshooting issues, performing preventative maintenance, and handling repairs. You will also provide training for enhanced flex/hybrid classrooms and maintain A/V systems across campus locations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer guidance and support for faculty, students, and staff in utilizing audio-visual technology effectively.
  • Fulfill service requests for A/V support in classrooms and at events.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot A/V equipment, including projectors, monitors, computers, audio recorders, mixers, amplifiers, document cameras, microphones, projection screens, control systems, and video/audio switchers.
  • Deliver daily A/V support for events and smart classroom technology.
  • Track and manage service requests and support using a helpdesk system.
  • Maintain inventory of loaner and spare equipment for events and classrooms.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance on A/V equipment and smart classrooms.
  • Perform component-level replacements as needed.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in audio/visual technology or media event support, or a bachelor's degree in a related field, or relevant technical certification.
  • Proficient in supporting both integrated and portable A/V equipment.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing A/V equipment.
  • Proficiency with Mac and PC platforms, including PowerPoint and Office applications.
  • Understanding of sound systems and video distribution.
  • CTS Certification preferred.
  • Experience with Crestron, Extron, and Biamp systems is a plus.
  • Highly organized, reliable, and capable of working effectively within a team.
  • Knowledgeable about audio-visual systems, presentation software, and streaming media applications.
  • Ability to manage student staff and scheduling.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and working at heights up to 10 ft.
