Job Summary:

As a Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of heavy and small equipment available for rental. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. You will ensure that all equipment is in optimal working condition to meet the needs of customers and maximize rental revenue. Additionally, you will perform regular inspections, diagnose issues, and execute timely repairs to minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform routine maintenance tasks on heavy and small equipment, including but not limited to, changing fluids, replacing filters, and lubricating moving parts.

2. Conduct thorough inspections of rental equipment to identify any mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues.

3. Diagnose equipment malfunctions using diagnostic tools and manuals to determine the root cause of problems.

4. Execute repairs on equipment, which may involve disassembly, replacement of faulty parts, welding, or fabrication of components.

5. Test repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance before returning it to rental inventory.

6. Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately, including parts used, labor hours, and service performed.

7. Communicate with rental coordinators and customers to provide updates on equipment status and repair timelines.

8. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, equipment, and service bays.

9. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

10. Stay informed about new equipment models, technologies, and industry best practices through training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical training program in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair, or a related field preferred.

2. Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in a rental equipment or construction environment.

3. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

4. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify equipment issues.

5. Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.

6. Knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical systems, and welding techniques.

7. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

8. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

10. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.

11. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.

2. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate tools and equipment safely.

3. Comfort working in various weather conditions and environments, including outdoor settings and potentially hazardous job sites.
