Job Description
Position Summary:
The Certified Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in assisting the surgical team before, during, and after surgical procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and efficient surgical environment. Surgical Tech certification is required within 6 months from hire, and BLS certification is required upon hire.
Essential Duties:
- Prepare and maintain the surgical suite, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are sterile and readily available.
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure.
- Prepare and transport patients to and from the operating room, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Assist with patient positioning and prepping, as well as draping the surgical site.
- Perform preoperative and postoperative duties, including preparing and cleaning the surgical area.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Surgical Technician program from an accredited institution.
- Surgical Tech certification required within 6 months from hire.
- Current BLS certification required upon hire.
- Prior experience working as a Surgical Technician preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
