Job Title: Echocardiographer
Job Location: Menomonee Falls, WI
Job Duration: 3 Months+
Shift: Variable; 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with weekend rotation as needed
Duties:
  • Perform Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE).
  • Set up and assist with Transoesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE) and, under the direction of a trained echocardiographer, set up and perform exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms.
  • Demonstrate competency in delivering care to a primarily adult population.
  • Perform routine and emergency echocardiograms, including 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, Doppler, and TEE.
  • Provide echocardiography services at necessary locations, working variable shifts, weekends, and providing emergent call coverage.
  • Operate and maintain echocardiography equipment, making minor adjustments and repairs as needed.
  • Analyze patient medical records to obtain relevant history and information for diagnostic procedures.
  • Prepare preliminary reports for review by Cardiologists, including comparisons with previous studies.
  • Maintain equipment and patient care environments, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to departmental policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, evaluate procedural results for accuracy, and maintain logs and records.
  • Prepare and instruct patients pre- and post-procedure.
  • Utilize ultrasound contrast according to ASE guidelines and departmental policies and explain potential side effects to patients.

Skills:
  • Professional knowledge of cardiac sonography and ultrasound techniques.
  • Ability to operate and maintain echocardiography equipment.
  • Experience with ARDMS, cardiovascular and cardiac ultrasound, and familiarity with ASE guidelines and Philips ultrasound systems.
  • BLS, CNA, and EMT certifications preferred.

Education:
  • New graduates or those with 1-3 years of experience as a cardiac sonographer.
  • Completion of a two-year Allied Health degree and successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP-approved School of Ultrasound Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or equivalent education preferred.
  • Previous healthcare experience such as CNA, EMT, or PCA preferred.

Languages:
  • English (Read, Write, Speak)

Certifications & Licenses:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) preferred
  • EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) preferred

Top Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of experience with TTE and TEE.
  • Knowledge of ASE guidelines.
  • Experience with Philips ultrasound systems.
