The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal's Office can provide educational opportunities for individuals that seek to enter the Fire Inspector or Fire Investigator profession. Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, this internship will provide first-hand experience with a Fire Inspector or Fire Investigator.

Job Summary

The internship will allow opportunities to shadow and assist in Fire Inspector and Fire Investigator duties such as:

  • Routine fire inspections
  • Logs violations noted
  • Conducts follow- up inspections
  • Conducts code research
  • Provides simulation labs and scenarios for trainings
  • Assists public with questions on codes and safety measures.
  • Complex investigations for fires, explosions, and hazardous material incidents
  • Writing technical reports
  • Inspecting the use, storage, and transport of hazardous materials and explosives issuing related permits and follow-up on activities.
May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

Hiring salary commensurate with experience. Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent; Full- time college students at an accredited institution are eligible to apply. Priority is given to those focused on Fire Inspector or Fire Investigator studies.
