This OR Registered Nurse (RN)  opportunity is full time, offers a convenient day shift schedule. Northern Nevada Medical Center is looking for a dynamic Operating Room Registered Nurse! You will provide direct patient care to infant through geriatric patient populations in the OR arena. You will address  the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical and Pain Center environment.  Communicates with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient condition.  Assists with the maintenance of surgical equipment and pain management inventory.  Participates in performance improvement activities.  Assesses operating room / procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met.  Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR (both accomplished in partnership with patient inside room)
  • Approaches patient in a kind, gentle and friendly manner.
  • Responds to patient’s inappropriate behavior in a therapeutic manner.
  • Takes appropriate actions and documents in response to manifested anxiety or distress.  Requests Social Service/Pastoral Care, as appropriate.
  • Gives patient explanations and verbal reassurances consistently.
  • Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care, as indicated, and evaluates for effectiveness.
  • Identifies physical symptoms and changes and takes appropriate actions in a timely manner.

Qualifications

 Job Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Nevada.
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year work experience in the operating room.
