Location: Monroeville, Pennsylvania Job Title: Experienced Engineer (Railcar Focused) Status: Full-time Professional Annual Salary Range: $84,636 - $152,566 *Salary and grade commensurate with education and experience. *Job Summary * As an Experienced Engineer (Railcar Focused) at BPMI, you will be responsible for project engineering duties requiring technical cognizance of railcar maintenance, procurement, and design. *Essential Duties: * Project engineering responsibilities requiring technical cognizance of railcar design requirements, fabrication, operation and maintenance. Functions encompass the following: Lead the preventive and emergent maintenance of railcars including coordinating preventive maintenance examinations (PME). Review railcar inspection reports and working with suppliers, servicing facilities, rail carriers, and railcar repair suppliers to complete repairs in a timely fashion and in accordance with Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP), Association of American Railroads (AAR), and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements. Coordinate the budgeting and procurement of spare parts to ensure sufficient inventory. Coordinate and managing the disposal of NNPP railcars. Develop and implement proactive measures to improve the safety and reliability of NNPP railcars. Contribute to the continual improvement of railcar inspection requirements and assist in the training and knowledge management of railcar inspectors. Lead the procurement of new railcars including establishing and ensuring adherence to applicable AAR design, manufacturing, and test requirements. Career advancement and professional development programs. *Minimum Job Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited college or university. Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience. An advanced degree may be considered in lieu of some year(s) of experience. Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required. *Preferred Job Requirements: * Experience in project engineering or design engineering with some experience or familiarity in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing, welding, specification preparation, structural analysis, mechanical design, or field support. Familiarity with AAR Open Top Loading Rules, Office Manual of the AAR Interchange Rules, and AAR Manual of Standards and Recommended Practices. Working knowledge of freight railcar nomenclature and part operation. Experience in completing freight railcar inspections in accordance with the Field Manual of the AAR Interchange Rules, referenced AAR Standards, and applicable FRA requirements (49CFR215, 231). Experience in coordinating and overseeing railcar preventive maintenance and emergent repairs. Effective technical writing and verbal communication skills.
