Interventional Radiology Nurse Job Duties
Administering anesthesia to patients either before or during procedures
Monitoring patients' vital signs during the procedure and reporting any changes to the physician or other staff members
Preparing patients for procedures by explaining the procedure to them, preparing them physically for the procedure (such as shaving a patient's head or administering sedatives), and setting up any equipment that is needed
Preparing and arranging equipment for procedures such as MRI scans and X-rays, ensuring that all equipment is working properly before and after each procedure
Preparing patients for diagnostic imaging studies such as MRI scans and CT scans by helping them disrobe and arranging them on a table or other equipment
Preparing patients for interventional procedures such as angiography or biopsies by inserting catheters into blood vessels or other body cavities
Performing interventional procedures such as biopsies or therapeutic interventions such as stent placements or angioplasty procedures to treat blood vessel blockages
Helping physicians perform procedures by holding retractors, suctioning blood, applying drapes, and removing specimens
Performing image analysis and reporting test results to physicians
