Status: Full-Time Salaried FLSA Classification: Exempt Summary of Position: The Prevention Specialist is responsible for the implementation and facilitation of prevention education programs to adolescents to prevent the use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs and to promote positive peer and adult relationships. * These programs and services are delivered in accordance with the evidence-based curriculum and include prevention education, social skill development, referral to and collaboration with community resources, that promote education and abstinence of ATOD. * These programs and services will address issues that have been identified as putting youth at risk of academic failure, dropping out of school, or inappropriate interpersonal skills. * The agency requires all employees to demonstrate ethical behaviors by adhering to established professional codes of ethics in order to maintain professional standards and safeguard the best interests of the individual(s) served. * Also, it is imperative that the employee adhere to federal, state, and agency regulations regarding alcohol and other drug use services by following appropriate procedures to protect the participant(s) rights. Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Mental Health, or High School Diploma with 5 years of extensive experience working with youth will be considered in place of the bachelor's degree. * Prefer training in prevention strategies or evidence based curriculum. Demonstrate excellent communication and writing proficiency.
