Description
Looking to make a difference as a pediatric physical, occupational or speech language therapist? UCP of Central Florida provides pediatric therapy at two settings charter schools and medical/out-patient. Charter Schools are a network of 8 PreK-12th grade schools for students with and without disabilities in Central Florida. Therapy is provided as part of a multi-discipline team.
Job Summary:
The charter physical therapy assistant (PTA) is responsible for providing direct therapy services to UCP of Central Florida (UCP) students according to all local, state, and federal regulations. The charter PTA reports to the school principal at each campus where services are rendered. The PTA ensures all students under her/his care caseload receive a high-quality therapy program by optimizing each student's abilities.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide and monitor client coverage
  • Effectively apply and adapt therapy sessions according to patient's needs and assist in establishing goals. This includes recognizing when the patient has received optimal benefit from therapy services.
  • Write accurate and complete daily progress notes at the end of each session following UCP guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance of UCP Confidentiality and FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) patient rights procedures for all client files and information in therapist caseload.
  • Submit accurate and timely assistive technology reports, equipment recommendations, discharge recommendations, and progress reports.
  • Provide Physical Therapy consultations to education staff to facilitate incorporation of clients' physical therapy goals into classroom activities and participate in multi-disciplinary planning with staff members. (Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Exceptional Education, etc...)
  • Provide parent consultations and instructions for home programs.
  • Assist with physical therapy demonstrations on UCP videos when necessary.
  • Provide training programs to other UCP staff and participate in in-service trainings and case presentations.
  • Participate in client staffing , and medical equipment company visits when necessary.
  • Recommend and create/obtain assistive devices or equipment for individual clients through purchase or loans for use at UCP and at home.
  • Complete correspondence to community resources regarding client care (i.e. physicians, schools), as needed.
  • Work with other community agencies as directed or needed.
  • Research new techniques and share with other UCP staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Training:
  • Associate degree in Physical Therapy
  • Physical Therapy Assistant license from the State of Florida
Minimum Experience:
  • 1-year experience preferred with pediatric population in a multi-disciplinary setting
