The Middle School Language Arts Teacher's role involves guiding students in developing strong literacy skills, including reading comprehension, literature analysis, and writing proficiency. The teacher will create and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to a middle school audience, fostering an enriching educational experience. As part of a Christian educational institution, the role also includes integrating biblical principles into instruction, encouraging students' spiritual growth, and promoting a Christian worldview. Collaboration with fellow teachers, communication with parents/guardians, and participation in professional development are integral to the position, ensuring well-rounded student development. Estimated hours: 40 hrs per week, August through May QUALIFICATIONS The candidate should reflect the following characteristics: A strong Christian testimony with a mature and godly character Exemplary Christian virtue both in and outside of school Commitment to regular church attendance in alignment with the Statement of Faith Ideal candidates will have: A passion for teaching, with a focus on integrating biblical values into the Language Arts curriculum Strong knowledge of Language Arts concepts, literature, and writing, viewed through a Christian perspective Effective verbal and written communication skills Creativity in lesson planning and student engagement strategies, incorporating Christian themes Strong organizational and time management skills A collaborative mindset to work with colleagues and engage stakeholders Problem-solving skills rooted in Christian faith to address student needs Proficiency with educational technology Compassion and patience inspired by Christian love and empathy for middle school students Dedication to ongoing professional development RESPONSIBILITIES Design and deliver lesson plans aligned with middle school curriculum standards and educational objectives Use diverse teaching strategies and resources to meet students' varying learning needs Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and provide constructive feedback Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff regarding student performance, concerns, and achievements Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and activities Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices Obtain or maintain teacher certification through ACSI Fulfill other duties as assigned by the school administration OUTCOMES Students will demonstrate growth in Language Arts skills and understanding Positive student engagement and participation in class activities A respectful and supportive classroom environment Accurate and timely reporting of student progress Effective collaboration with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators Ongoing professional development and growth as an educator Reporting Relationship: The Middle School Language Arts Teacher reports to the Upper School Principal.
