Location : Valley Cottage, NY (mobile, community-based position)
Hours Per Week: 35 hours
Program: Housing, Outreach Mobile Engagement (HOME)
Salary Range : $18.75/hr - $21.85/hr

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to individuals who have been referred by Rockland County DSS and are identified as disengaged from traditional treatment settings and lacking housing stability.
  • Make referrals, meet with individuals in the community, accompany individuals to appointments (e.g., medical or treatment appointments, self-help meetings, etc.), and provide Narcan training.
  • Providing referrals to referents (e.g., medical personnel, law enforcement) and to family members and significant others.
  • Share their own personal recovery information as appropriate to role model and inspire hope.
  • Participate in team, county and marketing meetings.
  • Assist individuals in planning next steps.
  • Maintain records of all contacts and completing all required paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Peer certification required, or must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Good organizational, writing and engagement skills required.
  • Self-identify as a person who has first-hand experience with substance disorder issues and/or related behavioral health challenges.
  • Be able to use this lived experience to support individuals in their recovery.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Word).
  • Experience working with a diverse population preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driver Certification within 30 days of hire
  • Must maintain pre-employment clearances by applicable regulatory clearances as required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

  • Salary Range: $18.75/hr - $21.85/hr , based on departmental budget, qualifications, experience, education, and licenses. This range represents the agency’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
