Title: School Nutrition Specialist, Registered Dietitian
Reports to: Director of School Food Services

Qualifications:
Education, Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Culinary, Institutional Food Service or related field desired; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ServSafe certified, Mass allergen certified, SNA of Mass certified or within 6 months of hire
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programing
  • Demonstrated skills of developing and providing nutrition education to students
  • Excellent communication: verbal and written communication skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibits leadership and professionalism among co-workers, school staff and all stakeholders
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge in the use of technology,proficient skills in MS Office, Google Drive, Canva and all Social Media platforms; willingness to learn new programs.
  • Work cooperatively with all stakeholders and with a diverse population
  • Valid Driver's License, use of reliable vehicle
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide nutrition education and design handouts, presentations, display boards, etc., to further educate students and staff regarding nutrition.
  • Develop marketing and themed promotions at schools and innovative ways to enhance food quality to generate increased participation
  • Coordinate student wellness meetings and ensure the program is up to date with local student wellness policy.
  • Conduct student taste tests
  • Support district wide green efforts on recycling and composting projects
  • Support the USDA Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program and Northeast Food Program
  • Re-establish working school gardens and indoor growing rack programming
  • Develop relationships with local farms to establish farm-to-school initiatives
  • Maintain nutrition analysis software
  • Monitors student allergies and makes accommodations, as needed
  • Experience in public speaking, preferably to all age groups
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director
Terms of Employment
  • 18 hours per week approx. $55.00 per hour
  • This position is not a member of any collective bargaining unit
