Job Requirements

The Advanced Practice Nurse must be able to work independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. They will consult with the manager, physician, and medical director to ensure compliance with guidelines. This position may also require participation in risk and quality management programs, clinical meetings, and other meetings.

The Advanced Practice Nurse will adhere to departmental goals, standards of performance, regulatory compliance, quality patient care, and policies and procedures. They will work independently as a certified nurse practitioner for a patient population in collaboration and consultation with a licensed patient care team physician. Practices will be in accordance with a written or electronic practice agreement.

Work Experience

  • Independently assess acute and non-acute clinical problems, perform physical assessments and patient histories, analyze trends in patient conditions, and develop patient management plans.
  • Plan patient care based on in-depth knowledge of the specific patient population and/or protocol, and act as a patient advocate.
  • Write admission, transfers, and discharges orders, as well as order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies.
  • Participate in patient care rounds and conferences, and communicate patient management strategies to the care team.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to identify and implement new practice patterns.
  • Prescribe medication based on state of practice.
  • Other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

  • Ability to travel locally up to 75%.

Education and Experience Criteria

  • Advanced degree in Nursing required, as well as current Nurse Practitioner Certification in the State of practice.
  • Board certification by AANP or ANCC is preferred.
  • Current DEA number from the DEA for schedule II-V controlled substances may be required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within first 90 days of employment.
