Job Summary
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols
- Promote safe care for patients undergoing operative and other invasive procedures
- Support the surgical team for maintaining a high level of sterility
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to assess patients and provide individualized care
- Review charts for completeness prior to and after the surgical procedure
- Communicate with patients, teammates, and physicians to ensure continuity of care
- Prepare the operating room for surgery and ensure equipment is functioning properly
- Monitor patient's vital signs to detect anomalies
- Adhere to safety standards and precautions
- Pass medical instruments or other objects to the surgeon during operation
Qualifications
Required Credentials
- Licensed Registered Nurse with at least 2 years' experience in an operating room
- Certified BLS Provider
- Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
- Team player with excellent communication skills
Education
- Associate degree required, BSN preferred
