Description
Responsible for evaluation and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. Assist patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Coordinate, delegate and supervise responsibilities assigned to Physical Therapist Assistants and Rehabilitation Aide. The staff therapist participates in operational aspects and quality improvement processes of the department. Participate in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs. Other duties assigned.
Requirements
Current State Physical Therapy Licensure
Basic computer skills
Strong written and verbal skills
Knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology.
Knowledge of physical therapy machine operation, maintenance and repairs of same.
Orthopedic and Manual Therapy experience preferred.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy or graduate of accredited college or university with a certificate in Physical Therapy
Preferred: three (3) or more years of previous experience in physical therapy practice.
Current BLS (CPR) Certification
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Continuous movement throughout the hospital
Continuous standing (up to 7 hours)
Intermittent bending, kneeling, and squatting
Ability to lift up to 30% of your body weight
Ability to read and understand English
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to interact with patients, families and staff in a professional manner in stressful situations
Ability to maintain matters of a confidential nature
Ability to remain calm in crisis situations
Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations
