Provides treatment under the direction of an occupational therapist as prescribed by the referring physician and supervising occupational therapist. Recommends changes in treatment plan to the supervising occupational therapist based upon patient condition and response to treatment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Actively participates in staff meetings, development, committees, and in-service education.

  2. Assists occupational therapists in patient surveys for all age groups within the scope of practice.

  3. Maintains detailed written/electronic documentation of clinical services, ensuring co-signing as required.

  4. Implements treatment programs based on the occupational therapist's plan, using current scientific and clinical knowledge.

  5. Administers standardized testing and records results for OT diagnoses.

  6. Provides comprehensive therapeutic interventions for all age groups within the scope of practice.

  7. Rotates through treatment areas/facilities as needed.

  8. Supervises clinical support staff per the Occupational Therapy Practice Acts.

  9. Completes necessary charge/statistical information accurately.

  10. Schedules to maintain productivity standards and provides feedback to supervisors on department performance and emergencies.

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) with associates degree as an occupational therapy assistant.

  • Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Licensed or eligible for licensure in practicing state National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)

  • Occupational Therapy Assistant

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
