*Position pay is $1,000 per credit hour

*Tentative Schedule: ASL 1121 American Sign Language I (5 credits), Monday & Wednesday, 8:00 - 9:15am

The American Sign Language adjunct works under the supervision of the Academic Dean and is responsible for meeting all scheduled classes and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of CEC, the community college, and the approved course syllabus.

Job Duties:
  • Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.
  • Develops and administers American Sign Language education curriculum consistent with community college objectives.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to enhance learning.
  • Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of course work to everyday life.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods accordingly.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Organizes and maintains Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate and complete recordkeeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and daily attendance as required in CEC policies.
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms with CECs Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies.
  • Collaborates with other CEC staff members and participates in staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Academic Dean.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in a field directly related to the area of instruction, or a masters degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the subject area of instruction.
  • Prior to start, approval will be required by the community college partner.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
