Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership between the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts that provides high quality programs and services to enhance the quality of life for residents.
We are currently looking for a part-time Rec & Ed Intern. Gain valuable, hands-on experience while playing an important role in our recreation and education programs by supporting both Community Ed staff and program participants in the areas of youth, adults and family programs. This is a great opportunity for a college student looking to complete required internship or practicum hours.
Responsibilities

  • Assist in program planning and implementation of programs
  • Provide support to program participants who require assistance
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned to support all departments of Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed
Requirements
Must have ability to provide own transportation to locations in the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts and be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed. Minimum of one year completed coursework from an accredited college or university towards a recreation or education degree preferred. Experience working with youth or adults in any capacity required.
The position will be based at the Community Ed office on the campus of Ellisville Elementary in Ellisville, MO.
This is a part-time position at $15.00/hr.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing support to Community Ed department as needed while working as a team member to achieve department goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in the execution of assigned tasks as determined by the supervisor.
  • Assist in documenting program information, maintain databases and other moderately complex tasks as directed.
  • Ensure accepted quality program standards as well as department philosophies and guidelines.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Coordinate and assist with special events and activities of department as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to establish and execute priorities with minimum direction or instruction.
  • Ability to effectively assist in the execution of assigned responsibilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must work well as part of a team and individually.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to locations in the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required.
  • Ability to bend, twist, lift and manipulate equipment, supplies and mail.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum one year completed course work from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Comfortable with Windows platforms and Google Drive

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Within assigned building(s)
  • Outside of school buildings, including in inclement weather.
  • Locations throughout the community.
  • Ability to work in a variety of locations, travel throughout the Districts, work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.
