TheVocational Instructor performs instructionalservices of vocational and/or occupational subjects, such asbusiness, computers/technology, carpentry, plumbing and tradeswhich are designed to help inmates/students learn specified subjectmatter and acquire vocationalskills.Prepare courseobjectives following curriculum standards and applicablerequirements by contract.Plan and document aprogram of study that meets the individual needs and abilities ofstudents. Provide instruction using handouts, texts, audiovisualaids and other materials. Evaluate students' performance and issueprogress reports as required. Assist students with additionalinstruction asneeded.Qualifications:High School diploma, GEDcertification or equivalent isrequired.Fiveyears of full-time, wage-earning experience out of the past eightyears in the subject vocational trade or in career readiness skillsto include technical trade experience isrequired.Must possess current trade certification in the subjectvocational area of instruction and be licensed, or be eligible forprovisional teaching licensure and trade certification inaccordance with Tennessee Department of Education requirements.Must have the ability to give clear instructions in thetrade and/or vocational area.Experience in Microsoft Office applications isrequired.
