**JOB SUMMARY:**

Assists in the operation of the Dietary Department in a specific area or for the overall department.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

- Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as well as personnel matters as confidential information.

- Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.

- Assists in writing cycle menus, diet modifications, dietary assessments and care plans.

- Assists in administrative functions of the department.

- Assists in supervising and the orientation of co-workers.

- Assists in planning and set-up of special functions.

- Assists in ordering, receiving and inventory control of supplies and equipment.

- Maintains compliance with all federal, state and local regulations governing the handling and storage of food, food supplies, equipment and work environment.

- Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**

- High school or equivalent graduate with a completion of a dietary program such as certified dietary manager or culinary arts program.

- Ability to relate and communicate with co-workers, residents and general public in a friendly and professional manner.

- Displays initiative and motivation.

- Standing and walking short distances intermittently during an eight hour shift.

- Must be able to lift and transfer 30 pounds.

- Computer and clerical skills preferred.

- Supervisory experience and organizational skills required.

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**

Must be able to constantly work on their feet during an 8 hour shift, bend, stoop, twist and turn constantly throughout the shift in performing regular duties. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds frequently throughout the shift. Ability to do repeated pushing of food tray carts.
