Civil Design Project Engineer - Evanston

Our Civil Design Group focuses on a wide range of projects including roadway, utility, stormwater, parking lots, bike paths, parks, and pedestrian facilities for a variety of municipalities, counties, IDOT and Tollway.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply principles, methods, and techniques of civil engineering as they relate to the design of drainage and stormwater systems, water main systems, sanitary sewer systems, roadways and other infrastructure.
  • Perform design and analysis for civil engineering projects using approved computer programs and manual computations in accordance with the accepted design practice.
  • Work independently on design and production of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare design calculations quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
  • Direct and review production of drawings by CAD technicians and design engineers.
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
  • Contribute to team effort by providing guidance and technical insight to Civil Design Engineers.
  • Perform their own CAD work.
  • Attend project meetings both internally and with clients.
  • Act as liaison with client, contractors, or others directly on a variety of projects, assisting with required coordination and problem solving between all parties.
  • Assist Project Manager with project costs by managing the budget, invoicing, reporting of projects for both internal and client needs.
  • Commit to expanding existing network and influence by joining professional organizations, attending networking events and fostering new relationships that can contribute to potential talent identification and business development opportunities.
  • Other assignments as needed.
Key Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge and experience with state and regional regulations.
  • Project experience working with IDOT, Tollway, CDOT, various counties and/or local municipalities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation and Geopak preferred.
