Summary

Clubhouse Kids is seeking a Full-Time Childcare CACFP Cook !
Clubhouse Kids is a 5-Star center-based childcare and preschool that serves children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. Clubhouse Kids serves up to 52 young children per day, and provides breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack to all children. Clubhouse Kids participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which is a federally mandated nutrition program that provides preparation and serving guidelines to ensure children are accessing nutritious meals.

This position is 40 hours per week and shift times can be flexible. A typical shift is 7:30am-4:30pm with an hour break, or 7:30am-4:00pm with a half hour break. Can be flexible as approved by program directors.

Duties

  • Go around to all classrooms to collect meal numbers and nutrition needs before food preparation each day
  • Prepare all meal components and serve meals at planned times in accordance with CACFP rules
  • Breakfast (9:00am), Lunch (12:00pm), and PM Snack (3:00pm)
  • Ensure food allergies and alternative meal options are prepared and served according to schedule for identified children
  • Serve meals to each classroom on time, at the appropriate temperature
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and food so that you are prepared for day-of meals
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food storage areas, prioritizing and abiding by food safety regulations
  • Maintain daily production reports
  • Order and purchase supplies and ingredients through our food distributors (Rinehart, Upper Valley Produce, etc.) and local grocery stores
  • Make sure all thermometers, fridges, and freezers are working properly on a consistent schedule
  • Label all open food items and store all food and produce according to food safety regulations
  • Ensure all food items are checked for expiration dates and rotated on a consistent schedule
  • Wash and sanitize all dishes daily using commercial dishwasher and 3-basin sink system
  • Clean the kitchen and appliances throughout the day
  • Remove trash, compost, and recyclables daily
  • Organize and put away all groceries, food orders, and non-food items
  • Turn in all kitchen expense receipts to the program director(s)
  • Collaborate with program directors to make changes to the pre-planned rotating menus, abiding by CACFP regulations


Requirements

  • Must pass a criminal background check through the VT Childcare Development Division
  • High School Diploma or completion of a GED
  • At least 1 year of prior experience working in a kitchen/ food preparation setting
  • Must have workplace literacy skills including being able to read, write, and keep legible records for CACFP audits
  • Basic math skills such as measurement conversion and calculating servings/ recipes
  • Basic computer knowledge for use of workplace laptop to order food and kitchen materials
  • Must have good time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds
  • Must be okay with working in a childcare setting, with young children. Kitchen is separated from classrooms, but the cook delivers food and picks up dishes from classrooms.
