Description

The Director of Early Childhood Services is responsible to supervise daily department operations, ensure compliance with the NYS Education Department and the Office of Children and Family Services regulations and operating standards. The Director will complete all records and reports related to program efficacy, progress, and new development as well as compliance. They will coordinate with internal programs and departments, external state and federal regulatory bodies and external agency programs and providers and will ensure department fiscal responsibility. The Director of Early Childhood Services will oversee the professional development of staff and communicate in a manner that energizes the workforce, promotes retention, encourages team excellence, facilitates continuous learning, and reinforces positive partnerships throughout the organization and in the community.

Compensation: $66,000.00 - $68,000.00

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Activities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Supervise daily program/department operations, including budget monitoring, interviewing, hiring, scheduling and coverage, on-site orientation, staff meetings, and staff and program performance evaluations for the Promise preschool program(s).
  • Coordinate existing services, initiate innovations, develop new programs and coordinate program expansion in support and achievement of Kelberman's strategic goals and work plans.
  • Oversee and maintain the timely completion of all necessary records and reports to ensure compliance within the program and with state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with program departments and inter-disciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of quality services.
  • Coordinate services with state and federal governmental and regulatory entities, community and local agencies and health care providers when applicable to ensure that program needs are met.
  • Ensure that the program/department operates in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Ensure ongoing staff training and professional development needs are met and that staff certifications and/ or licenses are current.
  • Participate in activities that may include meetings, trainings and committees, and special projects; Establish a work environment that creates positive communication and support between supervisors and employees and applicants. Assimilate new employees to the Kelberman's culture, values, and mission.
  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related Software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master's Degree in Education or Special Education and completion of the NYSED School Building Leader or School Administrator certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience in the field of autism, developmental disabilities, education, health care or mental health services, a portion of which took place in New York State.
  • Initial TB test and physical required prior to first day of employment.
  • Must have a valid New York State Driver's License travel is required.
  • This position does have regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OCFS (Office of Children and Family Services).
WORK ENVIRONMENT/HAZARDS

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Minimal risk of chemicals used in cleaning. Job related tasks do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue, or spills or splashes from these substances, but exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at Kelberman sites. OSHA Exposure Category II.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Certain deadlines and unanticipated developments may require work during evenings, weekends.
  • Ability to quickly address any emergent issues without losing focus on task at hand.
  • The employee must have full sight and hearing with fluency in the English language. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, scanner, computer printer, etc.
  • Must have the ability to lift 60 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to handle stressful and unpredictable situations.
