Overview:
Blue Ridge Cancer Care/ Roanoke is looking for Advance Practice Practitioner for hematology/oncology position.

Location: 2013 South Jefferson Street Roanoke VA 24014

Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures and /mentors trains other providers
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Consistently incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • In-depth knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Often provides case management for patients and their families.
  • Often serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
  • Provides palliative care for the patient and their families as needed. - As subject matter expert, promotes/provides staff education
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hours calls
  • Serves as subject matter expert to the community, providing education and resources as needed
  • Likely to supervise the activities of clinical nursing and support staff.
  • May serve in practice or network-wide APP leadership role
  • May precept APP students
  • Mentors new advanced practice providers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Post MSN hematology/oncology nursing or Physician Assistant experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in hematology/oncology preferred, but not required.
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment preferred.
  • RN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician Assistant
  • Current BLS/ CPR certification required.
