Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS

Specialty: MS/Tele Float Pool
Contract length: 13.0 weeks
Nurse:Patient Ratios: 4-5 patients to one MS; 3 patients to 1 RN on progressive care
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: med-surg; post-op surgical patients, PCU- strokes, lines, drains, chest tubes, CHF, post vascular procedures, arrhythmias, DKA
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Sometimes not usually on med-surg units
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Titratable- Nicardipine, NTG, insulin, Cardizem. Fixed- dopamine/dobutamine (for stepdown)
Shifts & Scheduling: Self scheduling allowed, Block scheduling is not available
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirements: Depending on the staffing
Is there a call or standby requirement? No
How are units assigned? Via daily staffing sheets
Scrub Color/Dress Code: Royal Blue
Unit/Department specific orientation: General Hospital Orientation, Myles Modules, Cerner Validation class, on-unit orientation

Experience or 'Must have' skills: Med-surg experience, PCU/Stepdown level of experience

Shifts & Scheduling: Self scheduling is allowed; Block scheduling is not offered
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Units included in the Float Pool: Observation unit, Med-Surg, General Surgery, Ortho Surgery, Short Stay Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Telemetry & Progressive Care
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor does not always take an assignment and travelers will not act as house supervisor or charge nurse
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: Yes, the ratio is 10 patients to 1 housewide
RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): Cpap, BiPap sometimes
Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Yes, remote cardiac monitoring. RNs read strips

ACLS, BLS certifications are auto deducted for the 1.75 WA state tax but can be re-added
Additional $20/hour when floated within Region I that's not the primary facility
