Certified Surgical Technician

The Certified Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in the perioperative team, providing support during surgical procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include maintaining a sterile environment, handling supplies and equipment, ensuring patient safety, and participating in room turnover and set-up. The role also involves sterilizing surgical instruments and assisting with patient positioning and preparation.

• Adheres to principles of asepsis to maintain a sterile environment during surgical procedures.
• Cleans and maintains surgical equipment, identifying items needing repair according to policy.
• Assists in obtaining supplies, equipment, and positioning devices, as well as with patient positioning for procedures.
• Performs sterilization of surgical instruments and documents the process according to policy.
• Participates in room turnover and efficient set-up for subsequent procedures.
