Mission

In this position, you will contribute to the performance of the department by achieving all relevant KPI's. Assure up-to-date information and documentation at release of machines and during life cycle, quality control, technical support and service bulletin release.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The Design Engineer is responsible for maintaining standard product design drawings and bill of materials as well as creating new design options to meet customer requirements. Additional responsibilities include projects to update existing manuals and specifications and create submittals for applying new product designs. This position will interface with shop personnel to provide technical assistance to maintain production schedules as well as establish best practices for the manufacture of new designs. The design engineer aids project engineers for new product development projects.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Overall:
    • Software skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) are required.
    • Committed to accuracy and detail.
    • Understanding of bills of material (BOM) and BOM creation
    • Willing to be hands on and to interface with shop personnel to provide technical assistance
    • Must have a proven track record of positive results.
    • Must be customer oriented.
    • Good command of English is required. Other languages are a plus.

  • Design:
    • Must be proficient in Inventor, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
    • Experience with specifying and selecting solenoids, sensors and other mechanical/electrical components.
    • Good command of a 3-D/2-D CAD software is required. Inventor/AutoCad preferred.
    • Knowledge of NFPA99 and piped medical gas systems and associated equipment is preferred.
    • Ability to read and design schematics, wiring diagrams and drawings.
    • Experience with engineering release software (ERS) and creation of design.

Education and Experience:

  • An Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or product design is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • 3+ Years of experience in a design for manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and engineering design skills
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a productive member of a team
  • Candidate should have a high sense of urgency, responsiveness and be customer service-oriented
  • Must be able to set priorities and handle competing demands quickly and efficiently

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times (rarely).
