Description
Main Purpose:
To perform all painting and sandblasting helper job functions per contract/job specifications and quality assurance requirements/blasting and painting procedures and established ISO-QA/QC program standards.
Essential Functions:

  • Operate painting and blasting equipment (pressure paint guns, pressure blasting nozzles/hoses, industrial air compressors, etc.) safely and efficiently.
  • Power tool cleaning and brush painting.
  • Clean and maintain all related painting and blasting equipment, including safety equipment (blasting hoods, air hoses, respirators, etc.).
  • Apply primer and paint coatings as required in a manner that will ensure quality and unnecessary waste.
  • Inspect, start, and maintain equipment that delivers blast and regulates pressures that produce a safe and efficient environment.
  • Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing a visual inspection or viscometers.
  • Weigh or measure chemicals, coating, or paints before adding them to machines.
  • Appropriately dispose of hazardous waste.
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned, which may include rigging.
  • Pulls trigger and direct spray onto the work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
  • Follow company specifications and procedures.
  • Use a respirator hood to paint structures, pipes, and valves.
  • Use a spray gun to paint all structures, pipes, and valves.
  • Use a blast hose to blast structures, pipes, and valves.
  • Blast beams, angle iron, shuts, valves, and pipe to prepare items for painting.
  • Spray primer coat, intermediate coat, and final coat.
  • Wear a protective hood when blasting structures and pipes.
  • Wear a respirator when painting structures and pipes.
  • Follow MSDS on safety equipment.
  • Protect against fumes and discoloration of the product.

Requirements
Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting: employees must lift 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds.
Job Requirements:
  • Two years of experience blasting/painting
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass background checks to company policy.
  • TWIC card
Desirable Experience, Education, and Training:
  • Highschool diploma or GED.

Tools, Equipment, and Technology:
Individuals must know and use pressure paint guns, sandblasting hoses and nozzles, wet mill paint gauges, paint pots, air pressure compressors, protective blasting hoods, and breathing respirators.
Environmental Conditions:
80% to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.
