Internal Medicine - Community Health Center serving the community as a patient’s first point of entry to the health care system and as the gateway for all additional health care services, providing patients with ready access to their own personal primary care provider who acts as an advocate for them in coordinating the use of the entire health care system, collaborating with other health professionals, and utilizing consultation or referral for specific needs when appropriate is seeking a primary care physician.

The staff physician provides primary medical services and ambulatory care including but not limited to diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions, preventive care and health maintenance, and coordination of care to adult patients of the health center.

Obtains health history and performs physical examinations. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on a patient’s condition. Analyze reports and findings of tests and examinations and diagnose condition of patient.

Accurately diagnoses and treats a wide-range of acute and chronic diseases and injuries. Administer or prescribe treatments and medications appropriate to a patient’s diagnosis in accordance with state and federal statutes and professional practice guidelines. Promote health by advising patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease. Prepare records and reports as required in support of services rendered in accordance with established procedures. Counsel patient and, if appropriate, family on diagnosis and treatment plans to ensure understanding and follow-through.

Staff physician participates actively in the development and execution of the general adult and geriatric programs at the Health Center, medical programs in the community, and such quality assurance, research, and administrative tasks as are deemed relevant to patient care at the Health Center.
