Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Administrative Management Is forward thinking, creative, and innovative in developing new services and processes to improve both access to care and service to our patients. Demonstrates business acumen in human resource management, strategic planning, and marketing decisions to enhance patient care decisions. Evaluates outcomes and data in order to continuously improve operational processes, procedures and systems. Produces cogent and persuasive written materials and presentations, integrating data to address nursing, health care and organizational issues. Articulates views in a manner that promotes effective decision making, partnerships and cohesive working relationships amongst the health care team. Integrates appropriate technology to meet the needs of professional nursing, patient care, and enhanced patient and staff safety. Maintains an open, honest, collaborative relationship with Administrative team, direct reports, employees, and the Medical Staff. Builds strong relationships with the Board of Trustees and community organizations. Quality Serves as the nursing administrative representative to the Medical Staff structure, supporting patient care services, procedures and policies. Ensures availability of competent personnel and promotes the recruitment, selection, retention, development, and continuing education and advancement goals of the professional clinical staff. Responsible for acquiring and allocating human, material, and financial resources for specific functions and processes. Evaluates outcomes and data in order to continuously improve operational processes, procedures, and systems. Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately. Supports and abides by all hospital departmental and safety policies and procedures. Facilitates the conduct, dissemination and utilization of research and evidence-based practice to create a data driven nursing practice environment. Clinical Operations Management Responsible for the administrative oversight of direct patient care clinical departments and other departments as assigned. Integrates appropriate technology to meet the needs of professional nursing, patient care and enhanced patient and staff safety. Basic Clarke County Hospital (CCH) Performance Criteria Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to hospital policies and procedures and safety guidelines. Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance. Qualifications: Education: MSN or related healthcare master’s degree is required. Preferred: Certification in nursing administration or commitment to complete certification. Experience: Preferred: ARNP or DNP strongly preferred Five years of progressively more responsible management experience with demonstrated results in improving performance. Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting required, with experience as a Chief Nursing Officer desired. License(s)/Certification(s): RN license in the state of Iowa Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Articulates views in a manner that promotes effective partnerships and cohesive working relationships among health care team.
