Covenant HealthCare US:MI:SAGINAW DAY SHIFT - 80 HOURS PER PAY FULL TIME BENEFITED Summary: The Specialty Office Coordinator is responsible for the professional revenue cycle within the specialty, stay current on coding and insurance billing requirements, monitors, directs and oversees specialty office daily activities and maintains strict patient confidentiality and adheres to policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities: Responsible for supervision of duties of Specialty Practice but not limited to: patient scheduling, excellent execution of all front-end physician/surgeon office functions, staff hiring, training and mentoring, corrective action and employee development, evaluations. Ensures appropriate employee scheduling, coordinating coverage for vacation, medical leaves, jury duty, etc. Responsible for the development, reporting and monitoring of staff productivity/efficiency and quality metrics to Director of Specialty Practice Management. Lead by example. Build effective working relationships and fosters a spirit of teamwork within work unit. Process accounts payable and reporting of inconsistencies to MSO Accounting Manager or Director of Specialty Practice Management. Manages cost effective department budget. Exemplifies financial stewardship by effectively and efficiently managing financial resources to achieve desired outcomes. Ensures accurate reporting of employees' time for payroll. Orders supplies within budget constraints. Assist in the establishment of department budget. Strong working knowledge with professional revenue cycle within specialty. Reviews and maintains the superbill/charge slip for accuracy of office and procedure codes necessary to properly reflect services provided. Works collaboratively with Central Billing Office in problem solving but not limited to revenue cycle and third party payer requirements. Knowledge of credentialing physician/surgeon with third party payer and other healthcare organizations. Continually monitors, identifies and/or recommends ways in which departmental tasks/process may be streamlined to gain efficiency. Assist Director in developing, enhancing and updating policies and procedures. Participates in staff meetings, in-service programs and continuing education activities as necessary. Strong working knowledge of existing software system and maintains current with upgrades of such systems. Proficient with PC and spreadsheet applications, electronic billing, build of scheduling templates and health record but not limited to Lotus Notes or other e-mail/calendar applications, Excel, Microsoft word. Strong written/oral communication and decision making skills. Develops and maintains smooth and effective relationships with ancillary departments within Covenant HealthCare, off site clinics (if applicable) and other healthcare organizations. Under the guidance of Director, demonstrates maintains all OSHA, MIOSHA, HFAP, Corporate Compliance regulations and legal issues. Functions with an awareness of safety issues. Demonstrates and maintains confidentiality Contributes to specialty physician practice success targets for customer/patient satisfaction and net operating margin Demonstrates and delivers superior customer service at all times. Greets and services patients and visitors in a courteous, professional manner. Ensures that customer needs are addressed and expectations are met and/or exceeded. Other information: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Associates degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Two (2) years recent experience in physician practice preferred. Recent supervisory or leadership experience preferred. In lieu of Associates degree, a minimum of two (2) years medical field experience required and willing to obtain an Associates degree within three (3) years. Strong working knowledge of and ability to practically apply medical terminology, CPT-4, HCPCS and ICD-9-CM coding. Working knowledge of Covenant HealthCare and MSO policies and procedures. Knowledge regulatory agencies standards. Working knowledge of specialty in which employed. Basic accounting. Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Computer-based office practice management experience required. Excellent computer and typing skills. Proven ability to deal positively with physician/surgeon and staff to motivate and resolve problems effectively. Ability to maintain confidential information.
