Innovation Engineer

Position Summary
The innovation team focuses on identifying, testing, developing, and implementing new ideas or technologies to improve processes and drive growth. In this role you will research, collaborate, and experiment to solve problems and improve current standards across the company. This position reports to the Innovation Director and is based in downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions
  • Develop and deploy innovative idea pilots
  • Track financial and operational success of pilots against predetermined metrics
  • Work with team members across the organization to build business cases for the use of innovative ideas with a focus on identifying costs, benefits, risk, and scalability of each innovation
  • Attend conferences and travel to visit other operators' sites to gain exposure to new technologies and operational processes
  • Stay up to date on the latest innovations within the energy industry and research innovations in other industries
  • Analyze corporate data to identify opportunities for innovation
  • Determine whether innovative ideas support Chord's strategic or financial goals and move forward or eliminate ideas accordingly
  • Develop an external network within and outside of the Energy Industry to discover innovative ideas and best practices
  • Think creatively to identify novel solutions to overcome obstacles or meet goals
  • Trusted partner for corporate leadership, leads by influence at all levels
  • Executive mindset. Thinks at C-level and interacts cross-functionally

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering field
  • 5 years of combined experience in Engineering, Operations, or Production
  • Effective communicator and presenter, able adjust style and content to field, executive and corporate audiences
  • Proven ability to identify and execute creative or novel solutions to drive organizational value and efficiency
  • Ability to deliver results at strategic and tactical levels
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities while maintaining an eye for detail
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and other common desktop tools, with preference for ability to visualize information using Power BI and Spotfire
  • Ability to influence stakeholders to successfully achieve initiative deliverables
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment; flexible with the demands of a growing company
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Experience - developing cost estimates, scopes, and schedules, and executing against those plans
  • Experience implementing new processes, techniques, or technologies
  • Experience analyzing data in SQL and Python
  • Experience in upstream oil and gas
