<p>Lyon College, a dynamic institution that is growing its undergraduate enrollment as it also<br /> expands to create the first dental and veterinary doctoral programs in Arkansas, seeks<br /> applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry with a research<br /> background in biochemistry, beginning in Fall 2024. The successful candidate will have a<br /> doctoral degree in bio chemistry or a related field, and evidence of a scholarly agenda<br /> appropriate to Lyon College that could involve undergraduates. Responsibilities include<br /> teaching introductory and general chemistry courses with labs, biochemistry with labs, special<br /> topics, and seminar courses in chemistry. The teaching load is seven 3-credit hours courses per<br /> year (or equivalent). The successful candidate is also expected to actively mentor<br /> undergraduate students and conduct research in biochemistry or a relevant field. Other<br /> responsibilities include serving on college committees, advising students majoring in chemistry,<br /> participating in recruiting, curricular development, and assessment. College teaching experience<br /> is preferred, and a commitment to liberal arts education is required.</p> <p> <br /> Lyon College is a private, selective liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church<br /> (U.S.A.). It is located in Batesville, Arkansas, a safe and historic town of 11,000 that serves as a<br /> commercial, medical, social, and governmental hub for an eight-county area. It is named by<br /> USA Today as the best city to live in in Arkansas. The College currently enrolls almost 600<br /> undergraduate students from 29 states and 14 foreign countries.
