Senior Product Manager- 529 Plans

Support the strategic development, management, and operation of the IRC Section 529 direct- and advisor-sold product offerings at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. Collaborate across the organization to ensure the program(s) meets market demands, adheres to regulatory and contract requirements, and work with internal and external stakeholders to support program management requirements and to drive sales. The scope of the 529 Product Manager is supporting management of the advisor-sold plan delivered through the NA intermediaries, the direct-to-consumer plan, and the management of the South Carolina Tuition Prepayment Program (SCTPP)

Work location in Charlotte preferred. Willing to consider qualified candidates in other locations such as Boston.

Key Responsibilities Act as product manager for the 529 line of business, assisting in product advocacy efforts to drive sales with internal and external stakeholders. Serve as representative of the 529 program to the Columbia Threadneedle organization, partner firms, and the SC Office of State Treasurer through the maintenance and development of written materials and required reporting. Conduct industry research to understand the marketplace, competitors, and advisor/client/participant needs to develop effective strategies to highlight and capitalize on competitive advantages and opportunities. Identify, evaluate, and recommend product and process improvements and work with the marketing group to develop and improve marketing collateral including presentations, thought leadership content, and other relevant materials. Play a key role in supporting the management requirements of the 529 plan(s) by working directly with the SC Office of State Treasurer, the program's investment consultant, and broker/dealer firms on a variety of program management projects, reporting requirements, and ad hoc initiatives. Perform other duties as required, which may include activities such as supporting new product development activities, assisting with vendor management and oversight, providing input into other product team projects and initiatives, contributing to Thought Leadership pieces, and representing the 529 plan(s) at conferences and other in-person events.

Required Qualifications 5-7 years of related experience Ability to influence and collaborate with or lead across the organization to get results. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using data to identify trends and issues and potential ways to address the issue. A confirmed familiarity of concepts related to assigned product and ability to explain these to others. Series 7, state securities agent registration (S63 or S66) and state IAR registration (S65 or S66), and municipal securities principal (S53) or the ability to acquire within a defined period (with support). Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (4 years)
