Type of Contract: Temp-to-Perm
Pay Rate: $24 - $26

Description:

As the Area Manager, the candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day shop floor operations to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as safety, Redzone adherence, quality (RFT), financial targets, schedule adherence, and On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery. They will drive performance improvements by implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques and actively participating in the execution plans of the process unit. Additionally, the candidate will coach employees to foster a Lean Manufacturing culture through Strategy Deployment, aiming to achieve breakthrough business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Understand the business needs objectives, strategies and how changes in the business affect the human resource needs of the production process.
Facilitate team interactions and learning that enables the team to meet their key operational objectives.
Assist in developing the training plan for the production staff and provide the resources to enable the training to be completed.
Provide on the floor training/re-enforcement of Lean Principles.
Maintain a flexible and cost effective staffing plan for the operation.
Develop and implement innovative ways to meet the business needs while maintaining a stable work environment.
Manage daily use of Redzone on every line.
Assign employees to their specific position.
Provide leadership in change management initiatives.
Monitor and track manufacturing process activities to ensure execution of the established production schedule On Time and In Full.
Work closely with Scheduler to prepare schedule and ensure adherence to it.
Support the occurrence reporting (OR) process and work with other team members to facilitate fast and robust resolution of OR’s.
Address issues that are brought forward on the shop floor and coordinate the activities for a timely and robust solution.
Resolve or escalate issues to the appropriate departments to ensure resolution in support of the production schedule.
Manage the production staff and ensures that they are all trained to support the operations execution process.
Establish clear guidelines to improve working conditions on the shop floor (e.g. noise, dust, traffic) and follow the predetermined action plans.
Implement and follow 5S and Safety Inspections in order to constantly improve the manufacturing process and environment.
Implement and manage the EHS action plans for the shop floor.
Ensure that the equipment used during the production is in line with EHS Guidelines and local regulations.
Be the emergency contact person for the shop floor.
Conduct accident investigation and action plan after each accident on the shop floor.
Train employees according to the company policy related to health, safety and environment programs.
Ensure that all employees adhere to the performance program of the company and that they are aware of their responsibilities.
Ensure that materials required for production are available on the shop floor.
Manage Paycom and attendance to minimize impact on schedule adherence and financial deviations.
Work closely with Process Engineer to troubleshoot production process issues.
Work closely with Quality Assurance team to implement the Total Quality Management system on the shop floor.
Conduct and review 30, 60, and 90-day performance evaluations for new Line leaders and Machine operators and periodic reviews for succession planning.
Provide constructive feedback, both positive and negative to the operational staff.
Identify and develop candidates who are exceeding in performance and company values and behaviors.
Advise operators who are not meeting the basic requirements of the role on improving performance to meet expectations.
Drive safety, quality, and productivity improvements. Develop high performance of the process unit team to further drive productivity programs and increase motivation.

Education and Qualifications:
Work Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in operations management, preferably in cosmetics or
pharmaceuticals manufacturing environment
Minimum 3 years of extensive experience in applying Lean Manufacturing Principles in an
operational setting.
Education
High school diploma required or Completion of a bachelor’s degree or significant (preferably in
Industrial Engineering, Human Resources Management, or Business Administration)
Skills:
Bilingual – English and Spanish or Haitian Creole
