JOB SUMMARY

Security Officers (SO) conduct daily rounds to ensure facility safety and building security. The SO responds to all emergency situations, working to guarantee the safety of all patients, visitors and staff within the guidelines of Hospital policy. The SO receives maintenance calls, determining how best to deal with the situation and communicating that information to the appropriate responders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Patrol Hospital site, checking buildings (internal/external as appropriate), parking lots and grounds.
  • Checking of Hospital equipment to ensure proper operation, reporting problems to appropriate responders (maintenance staff, vendors, directors and others as needed).
  • Escort staff to and from vehicles when requested.
  • Aid in traffic control/movement and access to locked areas.
  • Respond to all emergencies such as codes, natural disasters, combative personnel.
  • Assist in making deliveries when needed and appropriate.
  • Respond to all incoming calls after hours for Plant Operations Dept.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Minimum high school education. Additional training in self-defense or police procedures is preferred. One year experience in general maintenance work and/or one year's experience in security work is preferred.
